Delaware Relocation Information

Delaware is bordered by Maryland to the west and south, Pennsylvania to the north, and New Jersey, Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the east.

Delaware is 49th largest state by area, and with a population of approx. 784,000 ranks as the 45th most populous state. Delaware was one of the original 13 colonies and was known as "the first state" since it was the first to ratify the new United States Constitution. Delaware is bounded by Pennsylvania to the north, and Maryland to the west and south, with the Atlantic Ocean on the east. One interesting fact about Delaware is that its northern boundary with Pennsylvania is an arc of 12 miles from the cupola of the courthouse in New Castle, and is referred to as the "12 mile circle".

Delaware's largest employers are the government, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, banking, automotive manufacturing, and farming, specifically poultry farming (such companies as Perdue and Montaire Farms).

Delaware has a personal income tax, but has no state sales tax (although it does have a gross receipts tax on most businesses) or real property tax, however counties do levy a real property tax
